What are cookies?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your device when you visit a website device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information. Those cookies are set by us and called first party cookies.

We may also use third party cookies – which are cookies from a domain different than the domain of the website you are visiting – (such as Google Analytics) to track web statistics.

More specifically, we use cookies and other tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Assisting you in navigation;
  • Assisting in registration to our events, login, and your ability to provide feedback;
  • Analyzing your use of our products, services or applications;
  • Assisting with our promotional and marketing efforts (including behavioral advertising)

Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser and persistent cookies remain on your device after the browser is closed (for example to remember your user preferences when you return to the site).

These cookies do not collect or store any personally identifiable information. You can refuse the use of cookies or you can opt-out of each cookie category (except strictly necessary cookies) by clicking on the “cookie settings” button.

The types of cookies we use

Below is a list of the main cookies we use on our Website and a brief explanation of their use, a full list of IMI plc website cookies appears at Appendix 1:

  • Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features. Without these cookies, services you have asked for (such as navigating between pages) cannot be provided.

  • Performance Cookies

Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (‘Google’). Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyse how our visitors use our websites and to monitor website performance. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience by customizing our offering and quickly identifying and fixing any issues that arise. For example, we might use performance cookies to keep track of which pages are most popular, which method of linking between pages is most effective, and to determine why some pages are receiving error messages. We might also use these cookies to highlight articles or site services that we think will be of interest to you based on your usage of the website. The information collected by these cookies is not associated with your personal information by us or by our contractors.

The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be anonymized by use of the appropriate settings (“_anonymizelp()” function or equivalent), transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.

Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

You may prevent or stop the installation and storage of cookies by you browser settings by downloading and installing the free Opt-out Browser Add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en (link is external). We inform you that in such case you will not be able to wholly use all functions of our website.

By using our website, you consent to the processing of any personal data Google will collect on you in the way and for the purpose as described above.

  • Functional Cookies

We make use of cookies to provide you with certain functionality. For example, to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in), or to recognise the platform from which you access the site, and to provide enhanced and more personal features. These cookies are not used to track your browsing on other sites.

How to control cookies

If you don’t want to receive cookies, you can modify your browser so that it notifies you when cookies are sent to it or you can refuse cookies altogether. You can also delete cookies that have already been set.

If you wish to restrict or block web browser cookies which are set on your device, then you can do this through your browser settings; the Help function within your browser should tell you how. Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org (link is external), which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of desktop browsers.

Cookies policy does not cover third party websites

Please note that this Cookies policy does not apply to, and we are not responsible for, the privacy practices of third party websites which may be linked to or accessible through this website.
